Withdean Woods Nature Reserve is a tranquil woodland situated on a steep slope overlooking Withdean Stadium, providing a green oasis amidst urban surroundings. The reserve features large mature trees, which, despite suffering damage from the 1987 storm, continue to support a diverse range of wildlife, including urban Foxes and Badgers. It is a free-to-visit area that relies on the support of its members for maintenance. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to spotting various bird species, with the Robin and Blue Tit peaking in November, while the Magpie and Chiffchaff are most active in April. The best times for observation are typically around midnight for Robins and Blue Tits, and around 1 AM for Magpies and Chiffchaffs. Additionally, visitors may encounter Long-tailed Tits in February and Slow-worms in May, making Withdean Woods a rewarding destination for nature lovers throughout the year.
