Waltham Brooks Nature Reserve is a grazing marsh located near the Arun floodplain, opposite the Amberley Wildbrooks nature reserve. This area features a large open water body that becomes a vital habitat for various bird species, particularly during winter when heavy rainfall can transform the reserve into a vast lake. The elevated walkways provide excellent viewing opportunities, making it accessible for visitors to appreciate the diverse wildlife. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a range of species throughout the year, with notable sightings including the White-tailed Eagle, which is best viewed in March around 15:00. Other highlights include the Common Nightingale peaking in August at dawn and Cetti's Warbler, which is prominent in February around 16:00. The reserve also supports breeding waders like Lapwing and Redshank during the summer months, making it an ideal destination for birdwatchers.
