South Swale is a 410.5-hectare Local Nature Reserve located north of Faversham in Kent. Managed by Kent Wildlife Trust, this coastal site features wetland and grassland habitats, along with mudflats that attract a diverse range of waders and wildfowl, particularly in winter. It is part of the Swale Ramsar site, Special Protection Area, and Site of Special Scientific Interest, showcasing vibrant flora such as yellow horned-poppies and golden samphire. Wildlife enthusiasts can visit South Swale year-round, with peak activity in August when species like the Pied Avocet and Northern Lapwing are most frequently observed. Winter months bring migratory birds such as Eurasian Spoonbills and Oystercatchers, while summer attracts butterflies and rare bees. Notable sightings include Bearded Tits peaking in September and Bonaparte's Gulls in July, making calm summer days ideal for experiencing the rich sounds and sights of this unique reserve.
