Sandwich and Pegwell Bay is a 615-hectare National Nature Reserve in Kent, renowned for its diverse habitats, including inter-tidal mudflats, saltmarshes, shingle beaches, sand dunes, and chalk cliffs. It is part of the Sandwich Bay and Thanet Coast Ramsar site and Special Protection Area, highlighting its international importance for bird life. The reserve is home to many rare plants and animals, making it a vital stopover for migratory species. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to a variety of bird species throughout the year. Notable sightings include Red Knot and Sanderling in March, with peak activity around 14:00, while Grey Plover and Mediterranean Gull are best observed in July, particularly at 15:00 and dusk, respectively. Winter visitors like Twite and Golden Plover can be spotted in December, with optimal viewing times around 13:00 and 14:00.
