Pevensey Marshes Nature Reserve encompasses a vast area of grazing marsh, featuring numerous ditches and pools across 3,500 hectares. Designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, it supports a rich diversity of aquatic flora and fauna. The reserve is actively managed to maintain wet conditions, promoting habitats for breeding waders like Lapwing and Redshank. Although not open to the public, it plays a crucial role in local biodiversity, supported by sustainable grazing practices. Wildlife enthusiasts may spot Kestrels and Meadow Browns, with peak sightings occurring in August for the butterflies and September for the birds, both around 01:00. While observations are limited, these species highlight the reserve's ecological value. The ongoing Network for Nature project aims to enhance the area's biodiversity, making it an exciting prospect for future wildlife watching.
