Oare Marshes is a 71.4-hectare Local Nature Reserve located north of Faversham in Kent, managed by Kent Wildlife Trust. This site is of international significance, featuring grazing marsh, freshwater dykes, open water scrapes, reedbed, saltmarsh, and seawall. It is designated as a Ramsar site, Special Protection Area, Site of Special Scientific Interest, and part of The Swale Nature Conservation Review site, Grade I, highlighting its critical role in supporting wetland birds. Visitors to Oare Marshes can expect to see a variety of bird species throughout the year, with peak sightings in August, particularly for Pied Avocets and Whimbrels. Notable species include Bonaparte's Gull in July, Eurasian Spoonbill in December, and Bearded Tit in September. The best times for birdwatching are generally around 11:00 AM for Bonaparte's Gull and Eurasian Spoonbill, while evening visits around dusk are ideal for spotting Curlew Sandpipers.
