Moss Valley Woodlands is a stunning area of ancient woodlands featuring majestic beech and oak trees, rich in biodiversity. Located in a tranquil setting, the reserve is carpeted with bluebells, sweet woodruff, and wood anemone during spring and early summer. Dowey Lumb, a small meadow within the woodlands, is increasingly abundant in wildflowers and offers a perfect picnic spot, while footpaths and bridleways connect visitors to the wider valley. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to a variety of species, particularly in May when bird activity peaks. Notable sightings include magpies and house martins, both best observed around 1:00 AM. Other highlights include the 7-spot ladybird in March and the elusive roe deer, which may be spotted among the trees. The woods are also home to woodpeckers, yellowhammers, and linnets, making it a vibrant destination for birdwatching throughout the year.
