Margrove Ponds is located in the picturesque Margrove Valley and features a large expanse of open water surrounded by diverse habitats, including fenland with dense common reed and reedmace. This reserve is notable for its rich biodiversity, supporting around 150 bird species, including several scarce and rare varieties. Visitors can access the site via a roughly surfaced track, with parking available at nearby locations. Wildlife enthusiasts can look out for species such as Red Grouse and Grey Squirrel, with peak sightings in January and February, respectively. March is an excellent time to observe Dog's Mercury and Song Thrush, while Barn Owls are best spotted in October. The reserve's varied habitats provide opportunities for observing frogs, toads, and newts, making it a rewarding destination for nature lovers throughout the year.
