Malling Down Nature Reserve features superb chalk grassland and scrub, home to a variety of typical and rare flowers and butterflies. Located on the easterly skyline of Lewes, East Sussex, this reserve is part of the South Downs National Park and is easily accessible from the town centre. It shares its landscape with notable landmarks such as Glyndbourne and the ancient hillfort of Mount Caburn, providing a picturesque setting for visitors. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to a range of species throughout the year, with peak sightings of Goldcrest in November and Garlic Mustard in April. April is particularly vibrant, showcasing a variety of flora and fauna, while the best times for observation are typically around 1:00 AM. Other notable species include Green Woodpecker in January and Great Cormorant in October, making each visit a unique experience for nature lovers.
