Lower Minnetts Field is a vibrant hay meadow located in Monmouthshire, Wales, featuring a flat yet uneven terrain. This small reserve is rich in biodiversity, boasting over 60 recorded plant species, including oxeye daisies, agrimony, and common spotted-orchids. The meadow is grazed at certain times of the year and is bordered by mature hedgerows and trees, providing habitats for various small mammals and birds. It also connects to the neighbouring Slade Woods, enhancing its ecological value. Visitors can expect to see a variety of wildlife throughout the year, with notable peaks in activity for species such as Carrion Crow and Goldfinch in June and April, respectively. January is particularly active for Jackdaw and House Sparrow sightings. The summer months bring butterflies and moths, while September is a great time to spot 7-spot Ladybirds and Green Shieldbugs. For the best experience, early morning visits around 1:00 AM are recommended to catch the most wildlife activity.
