Access and parkingThe reserve is on the south side of the A694, about 2 miles west of Rowlands Gill and 1 mile east of Hamsterley. Parking is available in Durham County Council’s Derwentcote car park (signposted “Derwentcoat Steel Furnace” and “Picnic Area”). Walk south-west into the woodland before entering the nature reserve in its south-east corner.
