Heather Corrie Vale is situated in the Darenth Valley, a vital area within the Nature Recovery Network. This reserve, a pathfinder project for Wilder Carbon, is a former golf course that is being transformed into a diverse landscape featuring grassland, heathland, and scrub habitats. The management approach focuses on natural processes to enhance carbon sequestration and biodiversity, ultimately evolving into a broadleaved woodland with water features to support wildlife. Visitors can expect to see a variety of butterflies and insects, with notable species including the Small Heath and Meadow Brown, peaking in September and June respectively. June is the best month for observing activity, particularly around 01:00, when many species such as the Common Blue and various skippers are most active. As the reserve develops, wildlife sightings are anticipated to increase, enriching the experience for nature enthusiasts.
