UK Wildlife Trusts

Glaslyn, the largest nature reserve managed by Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust, is a stunning representation of the Welsh wilderness within the Cambrian Mountains. This expansive area features heather moorland and boggy regions surrounding an exposed upland lake, offering breathtaking views from its viewpoint. The reserve is a haven for wildlife conservation and visitor enjoyment, with strict regulations against swimming and water sports to protect the ecosystem. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see a variety of species throughout the year, with peak activity in August when species like the Robin, Grey Heron, and Red Fox are most frequently observed. Notable sightings include Goldcrests and Chaffinches peaking in October. For the best experience, visit around 1:00 AM to catch the most wildlife activity, and don't miss the stunning transformation of the landscape from June to August, when cottongrass and heather bloom.
