Fronwen Wood is a semi-natural ancient woodland located in a serene environment, featuring a diverse mix of sessile oak, hazel coppice, and various other tree species such as ash and birch. This newly acquired reserve, currently not open to the public, is being assessed and managed to enhance its wildlife value. The presence of veteran oaks and ancient rowans adds to the character of this tranquil habitat, which has remained undisturbed for decades. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to observing a variety of species, particularly in March when activity peaks, especially around midnight. Notable sightings include the Tufted Duck and Great Crested Grebe, both best observed during their respective peak months. Dusk is an excellent time for spotting Red Kites and Eurasian Moorhens, while the early hours of January are ideal for Mute Swans and Robins.
