Farm Bog, located near the southern boundary of Wimbledon Common, is a unique valley mire that features a mix of gullies and pools formed by the seepage of acidic, nutrient-poor spring water. This tranquil reserve, often overlooked by visitors, offers a peaceful retreat from the surrounding bustle of dog walkers and cyclists. Accessible via footpaths from Sunset Road and Robin Hood Road, it is a hidden gem that showcases the natural beauty of the area. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to a variety of species throughout the year, with April being the standout month for sightings. Notable species include the Batman Hoverfly and Blue Tit, both peaking in April, particularly around 01:00. Visitors in July may catch glimpses of the Mandarin Duck and Eurasian Hobby at dusk, while February is prime time for spotting the Egyptian Goose and Eurasian Jay around 16:00. The diverse wildlife makes Farm Bog an intriguing destination for nature lovers.
