Edenderry is a small and secluded woodland nature reserve located along the banks of the River Lagan, just four miles south of Belfast city centre. This tranquil area features a mix of woodland and wet woodland habitats, home to several specimen trees, including beech, Spanish chestnut, and yew. The reserve provides a sanctuary for diverse wildflowers and bird species, making it a peaceful retreat for nature enthusiasts. Visitors to Edenderry can expect to see a variety of birdlife, particularly in February when activity peaks. Look for robins, hooded crows, and goldcrests, with the best times for sightings around 15:00. Other notable species include song thrushes and long-tailed tits, which are also more frequently observed during this month. The reserve offers a delightful experience for birdwatchers and nature lovers alike.
