Eastwood Nature Reserve is a picturesque 4.7-hectare woodland located in Stalybridge, Tameside, England. Nestled in a stunning clough valley, this hidden gem features a network of boardwalks and pathways that enhance accessibility. Originally gifted to the RSPB in 1931, it is now managed by the Cheshire Wildlife Trust, offering visitors a tranquil escape amidst diverse flora and fauna, including vibrant bluebells in spring and various woodland birds. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to spotting a range of species throughout the year, particularly woodland birds like treecreepers and nuthatches. Notable sightings include the red grouse, which peaks in February around midday, and other species like scathophaga stercoraria and tachycixius pilosus, with their peak activity in September and May, respectively. The reserve's tumbling brook also attracts dippers and occasional kingfishers, making it a delightful destination for nature lovers.
