Dyfnant Meadows is a hidden gem nestled among forestry, featuring a small area of unimproved hill pasture and ancient hedgerows. This Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) is renowned for its species-rich acid grassland, which supports a variety of flora, including Tormentil and Heath Bedstraw. The reserve also boasts a wooded dingle alongside a stream, home to diverse mosses, ferns, and lichens, creating a vibrant ecosystem that attracts various wildlife. Spring is an excellent time to visit Dyfnant Meadows, as bird song fills the air and species such as the Wren and Robin are particularly active. Wildflowers bloom in abundance during the summer months, while autumn reveals colourful waxcap fungi. Notable sightings include the Hazel Dormouse in May and Woodcock in January, with peak activity typically occurring around 01:00.
