Dolforwyn Woods is a vibrant mixed woodland located on a hillside, rich in wildlife and history. While much of the native wood was replaced by a variety of tree plantations, the remaining ancient woodland pockets contribute to a diverse habitat. This reserve is home to a range of woodland plants, including the uncommon Herb Paris, and supports declining bird species like the Pied Flycatcher and Wood Warbler, making it a site of ecological significance. Visitors can enjoy a wealth of birdlife, particularly in June when species such as the Blue Tit, Great Tit, and Blackbird are most active. Spring brings a chorus of birdsong, while autumn showcases stunning fungi and foliage. Notable sightings include the Pied Flycatcher peaking in June, alongside the Redwing in November, making these months ideal for birdwatching enthusiasts.
