Daneshill Lakes is a diverse nature reserve formed from disused and flooded gravel pits, located in a tranquil setting. It features a variety of habitats, including open water, damp willow woodland, drier woodland, and grassland, supporting a rich array of flowering plants. The reserve is an important site for wildlife, attracting numerous species throughout the year. During the summer, visitors can expect to see willow warblers, whitethroats, and blackcaps. In contrast, winter brings siskins, water rails, and goldcrests. Notably, November is the best month for wildlife observation, with peak activity occurring at dusk around 20:00, when species such as Eurasian coots, long-tailed tits, and various waterfowl are most frequently sighted.
