Cnwch Bank, owned by Radnorshire Wildlife Trust, features heather moorland and bilberry, alongside a small gorge formed by the young River Lugg. This area is part of the larger Beacon Hill, which rises to 547m (1800ft) and offers stunning views. The reserve includes several pools and is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, highlighting its ecological significance. Visitors can expect to see a variety of wildlife, particularly in January when badgers, roe deer, and red foxes are most active, often around 01:00. The summer months bring out species like the common green grasshopper and treecreeper, with notable sightings peaking in June. The diverse habitats support a range of breeding birds, including merlin and peregrine falcon, making Cnwch Bank a rewarding destination for nature enthusiasts year-round.
