Clunton Coppice is a picturesque oak woodland located in the Clun Valley, distinguished by its vibrant green hues in summer and striking red-gold tones in autumn. This spacious reserve is a remnant of the extensive woodlands that once covered the area, featuring a mix of oak trees and conifer plantations. Historically managed through coppicing for charcoal production, it offers a rich habitat for various flora and fauna, making it a delightful destination year-round. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to hear the melodious songs of wood warblers and pied flycatchers, particularly in spring when activity peaks in April around 16:00. Other notable species include woodpigeons, which are best observed in May, and marsh tits in July. While sightings are limited, the reserve's diverse ecosystem promises rewarding experiences for visitors throughout the seasons.
