Close e Quayle is a diverse nature reserve featuring three distinct meadows, including areas of rough grassland and curragh, as well as a mosaic of managed grassland. This habitat supports a variety of wildlife and has seen increased species diversity due to regular management practices such as cutting and grazing. The reserve is particularly noted for its vibrant display of devil's bit scabious in late summer, attracting numerous butterflies. Wildlife enthusiasts can look for species like hen harrier, snipe, curlew, and barn owl throughout the year. Notably, the Red-necked Wallaby is frequently observed, especially in January, with peak activity around midnight. Other notable plants such as Yorkshire-fog and Sweet Vernal-grass peak in June and July, making these months ideal for exploring the reserve's rich flora.
