Cleeve Heronry is a significant woodland heronry located near the village of Cleeve in North Somerset, covering an area of 3.2 hectares and managed by Avon Wildlife Trust. The reserve features over 40 heron nests situated in the tops of oak and ash trees, creating a vibrant habitat for these birds. Visitors can observe herons flying to and from their nests, particularly during the breeding season from February to June. In addition to herons, the reserve is home to a variety of wildlife. Notable sightings include Slow-worms peaking in September and Long-tailed Tits in April. Early morning visits may yield views of Roe Deer in January and Badgers in March. For those interested in insects, Hairy Shieldbugs and Great Tits can be spotted in May, while butterflies like the Small White appear in July. The best overall month for wildlife activity is September, with peak observation times typically around 01:00.
