Charles Sinker Fields is a vital habitat located on the edge of Fenn's, Whixall, and Bettisfield Mosses National Nature Reserves in Shropshire. This area, historically drained for peat extraction, has been revitalised to support wetland bird species through the creation of bunds that retain water. The site features a bird hide that offers excellent views over open water and surrounding fields, making it an ideal spot for wildlife observation year-round. Visitors can expect to see a variety of species, particularly during peak months. Notable sightings include teal, lapwing, and curlew, with the best observation times typically around 01:00. April and May are particularly fruitful months, showcasing species like the Green Tiger Beetle and Northern Lapwing. The site also offers a chance to spot common lizards and various dragonflies in July, making it a rewarding destination for nature enthusiasts.
