Chaddesley Woods National Nature Reserve, the second largest woodland area in Worcestershire, boasts a rich history dating back to the 13th century and possibly mentioned in the Domesday Book. This ancient woodland features a mix of mature oak and hazel coppice, alongside rare species like Midland hawthorn. The reserve also includes open glades and meadows, which support diverse wildlife and provide habitats for various birds, fungi, and invertebrates. Visitors can expect to see a variety of butterflies, with the best sightings of species like the Ringlet and Speckled Wood peaking in August and April, respectively. Birdwatchers may spot winter thrushes in the understorey or catch glimpses of the Great Spotted Woodpecker in May.
