The Centre for Wildlife Gardening is a 0.22-hectare nature reserve located in East Dulwich, south London. Managed by the London Wildlife Trust, this Site of Borough Importance for Nature Conservation features diverse habitats, including ponds, a chalk bank, wildflower meadows, and a woodland copse. Originally established in the late 1980s from a former council depot, the centre serves as a vibrant educational facility and a peaceful retreat for families, gardeners, and wildlife enthusiasts. Visitors can expect to see a variety of wildlife throughout the year, with notable species including the Speckled Wood butterfly, which peaks in April, and the Black-headed Gull and Robin, both most active in December. January is particularly rewarding for birdwatchers, with sightings of Woodpigeons, Eurasian Jays, and Magpies peaking during this month. For those interested in butterflies, the Large White is best observed in September, while the Mandarin Duck can be spotted in February.
