Cecilly Brook is a nature reserve located in the heart of Cheadle, enveloping a 1.25km stretch of the brook itself. This important habitat features rare water voles and vibrant wildflower meadows, making it one of the few significant sites for these creatures in Staffordshire. The reserve is bordered by ancient hedgerows and rich flora, including hawthorn, blackthorn, and various nectar-rich plants, creating a diverse ecosystem. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to spotting a variety of species throughout the year. December is particularly notable for sightings of the Great White Egret, while March brings opportunities to see Cattle Egrets. Other species, such as moles, are best observed in November. The summer months also offer glimpses of swifts and hoverflies, with peak activity times generally occurring around midnight.
