Carvers Rocks nature reserve, owned by Severn Trent Water and managed by The National Trust, is located at the southern end of Foremark Reservoir in Derbyshire. This diverse habitat features marshland, alder woodland, and one of the last patches of lowland heath in the region, making it a unique ecological site. The reserve is actively managed for conservation, enhancing its natural beauty and visitor experience. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to spotting reed buntings in the summer marshes and breeding great crested grebes along the reservoir fringe. Early summer evenings may reveal the elusive woodcock, while March is an excellent time to observe sweet violets. Notable sightings also include tree sparrows in October, with peak activity times typically around 01:00 for various species.
