Carr House Meadows is a stunning example of traditional English flower-rich meadows, located above the Ewden Valley. This reserve features a vibrant tapestry of wildflowers, including bluebells, yellow rattle, and various clovers, alongside rare species like the marsh-loving ragged robin. The meadows are maintained through cattle grazing, which promotes biodiversity and creates habitats for numerous insects and songbirds, making it an important ecological site. Visitors can expect to see a variety of wildlife throughout the year, with notable sightings including the Horned Lark in February and the Eurasian Green Woodpecker in March. The best times to visit for peak activity are around 11:00 AM for the Horned Lark and 1:00 PM for both the Oak and Cuckoo in April and June, respectively. October is also a good month for spotting Hedgehogs and White-throated Dippers, particularly around midnight and 11:00 AM.
