Carn Moor is an important fragment of Tywarnhayle Common, featuring a mix of wet and dry heathland. This reserve is notable for its rich plant life, including abundant bog myrtle, which was historically used to flavour beer, as well as St John's Wort and Royal Fern. The site also has historical significance, with remnants of lead ore mining, including an original engine house still visible. Wildlife sightings data is currently sparse, but visitors can expect to encounter a variety of heathland flora throughout the year. The best time to explore Carn Moor is during the warmer months when the heathland comes alive with vibrant plant life. While specific wildlife observations are limited, the unique habitat offers potential for discovering local species.
