Bystock Pools is a diverse nature reserve in Devon, featuring a picturesque lake, heathland, and wildflower meadows. Managed by Devon Wildlife Trust, it offers stunning views and a variety of habitats that attract numerous visitors. The reserve is also involved in initiatives to combat ash dieback, ensuring the safety of both visitors and wildlife while maintaining the ecological integrity of the area. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to observing species such as the Slow-worm and Buzzard, particularly active in April. Other highlights include the Small Red Damselfly in July and the Golden-ringed Dragonfly in June. For birdwatchers, the Common Grasshopper Warbler can be spotted at dawn in October, while the Great Tit peaks in February. The best time for overall wildlife activity is around 01:00, especially in April, making it an ideal time for a visit.
