Button Oak Meadow is a beautiful herb-rich pasture located within the Wyre Forest, a designated National Nature Reserve. This enchanting site is encircled by trees and features a gentle slope down to a stream, creating a diverse habitat that supports over 80 recorded plant species, including marsh orchids and devil’s bit scabious. Access to the meadow requires a permit, which can be requested via email. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to a variety of species throughout the year. Notable sightings include the Red Wood Ant, peaking in February, and the Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, best observed in January. May is particularly vibrant, with sightings of Pied Flycatchers, Wood Warblers, and Brimstone butterflies, all peaking around dawn or early afternoon. For those interested in winter wildlife, Marsh Tits can be spotted in February, especially in the late afternoon.
