Bryn Pydew Nature Reserve is a vibrant limestone-based habitat located in the hills between Llandudno, Rhos-on-Sea, and Llandudno Junction. This reserve features a mix of woodland, wildflower meadows, and limestone pavements, creating a rich tapestry of biodiversity. The site is notable for its diverse plant life, including numerous orchids, and supports over 20 species of butterflies and more than 500 species of moths, making it a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Visitors can expect to see a variety of species throughout the year, with peak activity in August when butterflies like the Buff-tailed Bumblebee and Common Blue are most frequently observed. The best time to visit is around 01:00 for optimal sightings of these insects. Additionally, winter months bring opportunities to spot Eurasian Blackbirds and Great Tits, particularly in January. For those interested in unique experiences, mid-summer nights may reveal the enchanting glow of glow-worms.
