Browne's Folly is a 39.9-hectare nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) located near Bathford in Somerset. This site features ancient woodland and flower-rich grasslands, situated on steep slopes overlooking the River Avon. The area is notable for its geological significance, with remnants of old Bath stone quarries providing diverse habitats that support a variety of wildlife, including rare orchids and unique flora. Visitors to Browne's Folly can expect to see a range of species, particularly in August when activity peaks. Look out for the Brown Argus butterfly, Field Grasshopper, and Red Fox during this time. Other notable sightings include the Eurasian Nuthatch and Wren in November, while the Gatekeeper butterfly can be spotted in July. The best times for observing wildlife are generally around 01:00, making early morning visits particularly rewarding.
