Broughton Down Nature Reserve, a 25-hectare site, features stunning chalk grassland surrounded by beech and yew woodlands. Located in the picturesque Test Valley, it offers breathtaking views towards Danebury Hill Fort and Stockbridge Down. This tranquil reserve is an ideal escape for those seeking a peaceful retreat while enjoying diverse habitats and wildlife. Visitors can expect to see a variety of butterflies, with peak sightings of Small Heath in June and Common Blue in August, both best observed around 01:00. Other notable species include the Dark Green Fritillary and Meadow Brown, which peak in June and July, respectively. The reserve is also home to unique flora, making it a delightful destination for nature enthusiasts throughout the warmer months.
