Brookwood Lye is a 22-hectare nature reserve located east of Brookwood in Surrey, bordered by the Basingstoke Canal to the north. This area features rare, unimproved wet grassland, alder carr, and broadleaved woodland, making it a vital habitat for various wetland invertebrates and bird species. Managed by the Surrey Wildlife Trust, the reserve's diverse ecosystems contribute to its ecological significance. Birdwatchers can look for species such as Pochard and Blackbird, with peak sightings occurring in January and April, respectively. The best times for observation are typically around midnight for Pochard and early morning for Blackbirds. June is also notable for the Broad-bodied Chaser dragonfly and Greenfinch, both peaking around 1:00 AM. While public access is not available, the rich wildlife makes Brookwood Lye a noteworthy site for those interested in local biodiversity.
