Broadham Down is a 16-hectare nature reserve located east of Chilham and west of Canterbury in Kent, managed by the Kent Wildlife Trust. This downland area features chalk grassland, woodland, and scrub, offering stunning views over the Stour Valley. The reserve is rich in history, with remnants of a former downland farm and unique geological features such as dene holes, which provide habitat for bats. Wildlife enthusiasts can look for a variety of species, with peak sightings occurring in January, particularly at midnight. Notable species include the Black Swan and Long-tailed Tit, while Little Owls are best observed at dusk in May. Visitors may also spot Grey Squirrels in March and various waterfowl during the winter months. The diverse habitats make Broadham Down a rewarding destination for nature lovers throughout the year.
