Bridewell Common is a wildlife-rich nature reserve located within the Gwent Levels, designated as part of the Undy Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Acquired in 2020, the reserve features a mosaic of damp fields, ancient willow pollards, and a network of reens and ditches, providing a habitat for a diverse range of flora and fauna. Following extensive restoration efforts, Bridewell Common is now open to the public, offering a tranquil retreat for nature enthusiasts. Visitors to Bridewell Common can expect to see a variety of wildlife, particularly in September when activity peaks for species such as Red Fox, Woodpigeon, and Hedgehog, with the best observation times around 01:00. Birdwatchers may also spot Gadwall in March and Mute Swans in February. The reserve's rich biodiversity includes rare species like otters and water voles, making it an exciting destination for wildlife lovers throughout the year.
