Branches Fork Meadows is a gently sloping reserve featuring distinct grassland areas connected by woodland, located near Pontypool. The habitat includes marshy grassland with purple moor grass, a central area with acid-loving plants, and a final grassland rich in wildflowers. This reserve is notable for its biodiversity and is easily accessible via the NCN 492 cycleway, making it a great spot for nature enthusiasts. Wildlife highlights include the White-throated Dipper, which peaks in March, and various birds such as Woodpigeons and Jackdaws, best observed in February. Long-tailed Tits are prominent in August, while Slow-worms can be spotted in September. The reserve is particularly vibrant in spring with bluebells and the arrival of willow warblers and blackcaps, making it an ideal time for birdwatching and enjoying the floral displays.
