Bowber Head Farm is a traditional small-holding located in the scenic Westmorland Dales, Cumbria. It features one of the rarest habitats in the region: northern upland hay meadows, which are designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. These flower-rich meadows, known locally as ‘herbie’ meadows, have been farmed for over 400 years and are vital for biodiversity, with only 900 hectares remaining in northern England. During the summer months, visitors can enjoy vibrant displays of pink, purple, yellow, and white flowers, alongside the lively buzz of pollinating insects. Notable wildlife sightings include the woodpigeon, common green grasshopper, and redstart, all peaking in June around 01:00. For those interested in birdwatching, redshank can also be observed in March, making Bowber Head Farm a delightful destination for nature enthusiasts.
