Blindley Heath is a 26.3-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest and Local Nature Reserve located on the southern outskirts of Godstone in Surrey. This area features relict damp grassland on Weald clay, complemented by a small woodland, a brook, and several ponds. Managed by the Surrey Wildlife Trust on behalf of Godstone Parish Council, it is home to a rich variety of flora, rare plants, and protected species of reptiles and amphibians, making it a tranquil spot for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can expect to see a range of wildlife throughout the year, with peak activity observed in January, particularly around midnight. Notable species include the Eurasian Blue Tit and Woodpigeon, both frequently spotted during this time. As spring approaches, look out for the Meadow Brown butterfly in June and the Dark-edged Bee-fly and Goldfinch in March. The reserve is ideal for a peaceful stroll, where you might also hear the beautiful song of the nationally scarce nightingale.
