Blackhouse Wood is a Local Wildlife Site located in Worcestershire, serving as an important ecological link between the Malvern Hills and Wyre Forest. The reserve features a mix of ancient woodland, including rare large-leaved lime and a unique blend of hornbeam and oak. Restoration efforts are underway following past clear-felling, and the area is rich in flora and fauna, supported by its limestone bedrock and active management practices. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to observing a variety of species throughout the year, with notable peaks in July for butterflies such as the Large White and Meadow Brown. Spring is an excellent time to spot Long-tailed Tits and Tawny Mining Bees, while April is ideal for Dock Bugs and Buzzards. The best time for sightings is typically around 01:00, making early morning visits particularly rewarding.
