Biddulph Valley Way and Whitemore Nature Reserve, located just west of Biddulph, features a 4.5-mile stretch of the old North Staffordshire Railway. This surfaced path is ideal for walkers, cyclists, and horse riders, showcasing a diverse landscape of embankments, cuttings, wooded areas, and hedgerows. The Whitemore Local Nature Reserve, a Staffordshire Site of Biological Importance, spans 4.3 hectares and serves as a vital woodland habitat, with ongoing management to enhance native biodiversity. Wildlife enthusiasts can look out for species such as the buzzard and moorhen, with peak sightings occurring in November and December, respectively. April is noted for increased activity, particularly for hogweed, making it an excellent time to visit. The reserve's rich flora, including bluebells and wood anemones, adds to the vibrant ecosystem, offering visitors a chance to connect with nature throughout the seasons.
