Bennett’s Patch and White’s Paddock Reserve, located in the Avon Gorge, features diverse habitats including wildflower meadows, native woodlands, and wildlife ponds. Established in 2015 to celebrate Bristol’s designation as European Green Capital, this 12-acre reserve has transformed a former sports facility into a vibrant wildlife haven, supporting a variety of species such as bats, badgers, hedgehogs, and numerous plants and birds. Visitors can expect to see a rich array of wildlife, with January being the best month for sightings. Notable species include the Small White butterfly and the Common Sandpiper, both peaking in activity during this time. The reserve is also home to birds like the Goldfinch and Peregrine Falcon, with the latter best observed at dusk in September. For butterfly enthusiasts, the Holly Blue and Green-veined White are most active in May, making it an excellent time to explore the reserve.
