Belfairs Park is a historic woodland in Essex, over 1,000 years old, and features a rich diversity of flora and fauna, including rare species such as the dormouse and heath fritillary butterfly. Managed by Southend Borough Council, this site combines ecological value with recreational opportunities, offering activities like walking, cycling, and horse riding. The park also houses the Belfairs Nature Discovery Centre, which serves as a hub for community engagement and conservation efforts within the Belfairs & Daws Heath Living Landscape. Wildlife enthusiasts can look forward to observing various species throughout the year, with peak activity in June when butterflies like the Meadow Brown and Holly Blue are most visible. Other notable sightings include the Buff-tailed Bumblebee in March and the Brent Goose in January. For the best chances of spotting these species, early visits around 01:00 are recommended, particularly during the summer months when the park is alive with activity.
