Beechwoods is a 9.8 hectare Local Nature Reserve located south-east of Cambridge, England. Originally planted in the 1840s, this impressive wood features mature beech trees, with medieval plough terraces still visible beneath their canopy. The reserve is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, and includes a newer area of broadleaved trees planted in 1992, enhancing the habitat diversity. Wildlife enthusiasts can look for a variety of species throughout the year, with peak sightings occurring in August. Notable birds include kestrels and holly blues, with best observation times around midnight and early morning, respectively. Visitors may also spot jackdaws in January and stock doves in August, making this a vibrant spot for birdwatching during the warmer months.
