Barrow Blow Wells is a local nature reserve located in Barrow-upon-Humber, North Lincolnshire, covering over 2.7 hectares. The site features a unique combination of reedmarshes and woodland, centered around two natural artesian springs known as blow wells. These springs, once common in the Lincolnshire Marsh, are now rare due to declining water tables from increased abstraction, making this reserve a significant ecological area. Wildlife enthusiasts may spot the Hawthorn Shieldbug, particularly active in August, with peak sightings occurring around 1:00 AM. While the reserve has limited public access, the unique habitats provide an opportunity to observe this and potentially other species in their natural setting, especially during the warmer months when activity is heightened.
