Barnes Meadow is a 29.4-hectare Local Nature Reserve located in Northampton, featuring a diverse mosaic of wetland habitats alongside the River Nene. Managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, the reserve includes meadows, a redundant arm of the river, and various ditches and scrapes. This rich environment supports a wide array of wildlife, making it a vital area for conservation. Visitors to Barnes Meadow can expect to see a variety of bird species, particularly in January when sightings peak for Canada Geese, Black-headed Gulls, and Mute Swans. Other notable species include Moorhens, which peak in March, and Kingfishers, spotted in December. The reserve is also home to dragonflies and grass snakes, making it a great spot for nature enthusiasts throughout the year.
