Ballachurry
UK Wildlife Trusts
Ballachurry is a transformed nature reserve located on former arable farmland, featuring level grass pathways and open water, which support a variety of wildlife. This community site is maintained by dedicated local volunteers and is part of the MWT Nature Reserve network, ensuring a thriving habitat for local flora and fauna. Visitors can expect to see a range of species throughout the year, with notable peaks in activity during specific months. December is particularly vibrant, showcasing Blackbirds, Blue Tits, and Wrens, while spring brings Chaffinches and Goldfinches. For the best viewing experience, early morning visits around 01:00 are recommended, as many species, including the 7-spot Ladybird and Speckled Wood, are most active during this time.
